The celebration of spring and new life spans across the world. Festivals, religious holidays, earth day, they all exist to remind us that we are apart of the planet and must take care of it to thrive. People may feel like the "Powers" are not concerned about the environment and how their actions and products affect our eco-system or how it affects our health. Those "Powers" that we grumble and complain about, motivated by profit and continual mass consumption only have "Power" because it has been given to them. During this years Earth Day, think about the "Power" of your purse/pocket... sack of cash... You have ultimate control of what you buy and how you impact your environment by the products you purchase and promote. Are we perfect, no... do we have to be... NO, but start acting in ways that positively benefit our atmosphere and promote your agenda. We see videos of how different foods are bad... sugar... meat... milk... you name it, there is a video that raves about a product or tells us how catastrophic it is. These videos are misleading and are driven by self-interest, always be aware of who created them and what they get out of it. This all requires research. In a world of information how do you weed out the good and bad? As life learners, study buddies and peer review are necessary. Surround yourself with people that enrich life and strive to be an asset. Earth Day may be planting a tree or clearing out your garden in anticipation of the new growing season. Here, at Ordinary Greatness, it is still about sharing important tidbits of information on how to turn ordinary interests into greatness! The water systems of the world are in need of assistance and the ordinary person should know more about how we get clean water to our facets. After consulting with my own study buddies, we learned that the United States Environmental Protection Agency has created Watershed Academy Web, a distance learning program. The website offers a variety of self-paced training modules that represent a basic and broad introduction to the watershed management field. The modules are organized by the following themes:
There are fifteen core modules for the Watershed Academy Certificate Program. The certificate program is not certified by any colleges or universities but it is a core base of valuable information that can turn an ordinary interest in water into a focused career path for free. The water system problems are a hazard and unfortunate but such adversity can be turned into an opportunity! What are you learning on Earth Day?
